Contemporary extension to a tower house in west Cork

This 5-storey castle/tower house is perched on high land overlooking a river in north County Cork. The proposal is to restore and extend this protected structure and recorded monument dating from 1500 for use as a family dwelling. The design features a glazed link and contemporary extension with a horizontal emphasis which in contrast to the tall, solid form of the tower house.
